Ștefan-Sebastian Florescu has graduated from the Natuonal University of Art in Bucharest, Romania in 2023 specialising in photography and time based art. His work explores memory, interpersonal relations, and the subconscious, inviting viewers to engage with seemingly familiar images in unexpected ways. He has discovered his interest in screen-printing during a semester studying at EASD in Valencia, Spain.

In his project, Fragments, he displays a layer of degradation and loss of details that comes naturally through the manual process of printing. As variables appear, information gets transformed becoming something new that, in essence, can be seen as an unfaithful representation of the same thing, but nevertheless is a new being with it’s own validity. His monochromatic approach can mirror the way memories often become distorted or fragmented over time, with certain details fading into darkness while others remain vivid. Additionally, the stark contrast created by black ink gives the clarity of certain moments against the background of forgotten or obscured ones.
